Republic of Korea: Introduced amendment of Telecommunications Business Act including quality of service requirements

On 7 May 2020, Bill No. 2024959, outlining amendments to Telecommunications Business Act, was introduced in the National Assembly of South Korea. The Bill would establish quality of service obligations for information and communications network providers (CNP) and value-added telecommunications service providers (VSP) that reach a specific threshold. In particular, the VSP and CNP would have to implement measures to ensure "secure means for stability of service" and "process user demands". The specific obligations and the thresholds will be established through a Presidential Decree.
