Announced settlement agreement between Federal Antimonopoly Service and Yandex regarding self-preferencing violations

On 19 January 2022, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) reached an agreement with Yandex, a search engine and web portal, regarding the self-preferencing violations by the company. According to the FAS, Yandex abused its dominance by treating its own services in a preferential matter when it comes to search results as well as through promotion. Yandex settled with the FAS without paying a fine, but will support the Russian Fund for the Development of Information Technologies with RUB 1.5 billion. Yandex is also obliged to implement measures that support competition and cease its anti-competitive conduct. Finally, Yandex is required to information-sharing with the FAS.
