Issued warning and order against Yandex for alleged self-preferencing

On 20 February 2021, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) warned and ordered Yandex, a search engine and web portal, to stop its abuse of dominance. According to the FAS, Yandex abused its dominance by treating its own services in a preferential matter when it comes to search results as well as through promotion. The conditions for these search promotion tools must now be made public within one month to ensure equal access. If Yandex does not follow this order by 1 April 2021, the FAS warned it would open a case on violations of the Russian Antimonopoly Law.
