Issued ruling against Google for abuse of dominance in general search service market

On 8 April 2021, the Turkish Competition Authority sanctioned Google with a fine of TRY 296 million for abusing its dominance in the search engine services market. Specifically, Google favoured its own price comparison tool for accommodations and search services, while restricting competitors. Google was also handed a cease-and-desist order and must refrain from disadvantaging competitors within 6 months. Furthermore, Google must report to the Board of the Turkish Competition Authority on a 5-year basis about the issue.
