On 2 February 2023, the European Parliament approved the decision to begin negotiations concerning the proposed Directive with new measures to improve conditions for workers on digital labour platforms. The new measures regulate the use of worker data and algorithms by requiring digital platforms to provide transparent information on algorithmic management. In particular, platforms will be required to inform workers of the use of automated decision-making and monitoring systems, explaining the parameters within which these systems make use of workers' personal data and how their behaviour affects decisions taken by automated systems. The mandate for negotiations was subject to a vote of the full Parliament after sufficient objections were raised against its initial announcement.
