Issued FTC interim ruling in investigation into HomeAdvisor platform deceptive marketing

On 23 January 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued an interim ruling on its investigation into HomeAdvisor, a platform connecting individuals and entities for work related to home improvement. The FTC confirmed its allegations against the platform. The FTC found that the company made misleading and false claims about the quality of home improvement works available to its platform members. The FTC also confirmed that HomeAdvisor's sales representatives misleadingly claimed that the first month of their help desk was free. As a result, the FTC requires HomeAdvisor to pay up to USD 7.2 million.
