Issued final consent order with penalties for HomeAdvisor

On 21 April 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a finalised consent order against company HomeAdvisor, after an investigation that it had used deceptive methods to sell home improvement project leads to service providers. The FTC's complaint officially charged HomeAdvisor with making false, misleading, or unsubstantiated claims about the quality and sources of its leads online. The consent order requires HomeAdvisor to pay up to USD 7.2 million in redress, and prohibits the company from making false or misleading claims regarding its leads.
