Court reduces IMY GDPR fine against Google following appeal

On 23 November 2020, the Stockholm Administrative Court issued a ruling on Google LLC's appeal against the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) fine for GDPR violations. The Administrative Court upheld IMY's finding that Google's practice of informing webmasters when removing URLs containing personal information from its search results was a violation of the GDPR. However, the Administrative Court also found that the sanctions imposed on Google by IMY for undue delay in removing search results should be substantially reduced, from SEK 75 million to SEK 52 million.
