On 15 December 2022, the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023” was adopted by the US Congress after being passed by the Senate. Section 5949 of the Act prohibits the US government from procuring electronic products by certain Chinese semiconductor manufacturers, specifically the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Cooperation, ChanXin Memory Technologies, and Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp.
