United States of America: Passed US National Defense Authorization Act 2023 including semiconductors regulation

On 8 December 2022, the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023” was passed by the US House of Representatives. Section 5949 of the Act would prohibit the US government from procuring electronic products by certain Chinese semiconductor manufacturers, specifically the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Cooperation, ChanXin Memory Technologies, and Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. The prohibitions would enter into force five years after the date of the enactment of the Act.
