Signed US National Defense Authorization Act 2023 including semiconductors regulation

On 23 December 2022, the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023” was signed into law by the US President, Joe Biden. Section 5949 of the Act prohibits the US government from procuring electronic products from certain Chinese semiconductor manufacturers, specifically the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Cooperation, ChanXin Memory Technologies, and Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. The prohibitions enter into force five years after the date of the enactment of the Act.
