Announced negotiations on Korea-Singapore Digital Partnership Agreement including data localisation prohibition

On 22 June 2020, the Governments of Korea and Singapore announced the launch of negotiations for the Korea-Singapore Digital Partnership Agreement. The Agreement seeks to facilitate electronic commerce and cross-border businesses. In particular, the Agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in new emerging digital areas, such as personal data protection, digital identities, fintech and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the Agreement aims to enable cross-border data flows and address data localisation requirements.
