ASEAN: Adopted ASEAN Framework on Digital Data Governance 2018

On 6 December 2018, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) adopted the “ASEAN Framework on Digital Data Governance 2018”. The Framework establishes the strategic priorities of digital data governance to support the ASEAN Digital Economy, which are comprised of different principles and initiatives that provide ASEAN Member States with guidance to develop data governance for the digital ecosystem based on each ASEAN Member’s level of development. The strategic priorities are the following, data life cycle and ecosystem, cross-border data flows, digitalisation and emerging technologies and legal, regulatory and policy.
