Description

Implemented US Secure Equipment Act of 2021 with authorisation requirements

On 11 November 2021, the Secure Equipment Act of 2021 entered into force following the signing into law by the President of the US. The Act requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish rules stating that it will no longer approve equipment authorisations for communications equipment or services that are critical to US national security and US telecommunications networks. Specifically, Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE will be categorised as national security threats and will not be given approvals in the future.
