The Secure Equipment Act of 2021 is introduced in the US House of Representatives on 15 June 2021. The Act requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish rules stating that it will no longer approve equipment authorizations for communications equipment or services that are critical to U.S. national security and U.S. telecommunications networks. Specifically, Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE would be categorized as national security threats and would not be given approvals in the future.
