On 28 October 2021, the Secure Equipment Act of 2021 is adopted by the United States Senate. The Act requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish rules stating that it will no longer approve equipment authorizations for communications equipment or services that are critical to U.S. national security and U.S. telecommunications networks. Specifically, Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE will be categorized as national security threats and will not be given approvals in the future.
