On 23 June 2021, the Swiss government opened a public consultation on a draft list of countries that are approved to receive personal data transfers out of Switzerland, under Article 16 of the amended Swiss Data Protection Act. The list is annexed to the Bundesrat Ordinance to the Federal Data Protection Act and comprises 43 countries, notably: Andorra, Liechtenstein, Argentina, Lithuania, Belgium, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Malta, Denmark, Monaco, Germany, New Zealand, Estonia, Netherlands, Faroe Islands, Norway, Finland, Austria, France, Poland, Gibraltar, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Guernsey, Sweden, Ireland, Slovakia, Iceland, Slovenia, Isle of Man Spain, Israel, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Jersey, Uruguay, Canada, the United Kingdom.
