Adopted adequacy list of countries receiving personal data transfers

On 31 August 2022, the Swiss government adopted a draft list of countries that are approved to receive personal data transfers out of Switzerland, under Article 16 of the amended Swiss Data Protection Act, which will come into force on 1 September 2023. The list is annexed to the Bundesrat Ordinance to the Federal Data Protection Act. The list comprises a total of 43 States and territories considered to have adequate data protection notably: Germany, Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hungary, Isle of Man, Faroe Islands, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Uruguay.
