On 25 May 2021, the Bill amending the Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act (HB 53) was adopted by the Senate of Illinois. The purpose of the Bill is to detect and avoid racial bias in the use of artificial intelligence. The Bill requires employers who rely exclusively on artificial intelligence to verify whether an applicant qualifies for an oral interview to report demographic information to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The latter must analyse the data and submit it to the governor and the General Assembly.
