Description

Implemented Provisions on the Administration of Internet Pop-up Information Push Services

On 30 September 2022, the Provisions on the Administration of Internet Pop-up Information Push Services came into force. Under the new Provisions, pop-up notification providers must comply with news content laws and are not allowed to use abusive algorithms (i.e. that create addiction or violate laws). Moreover, pop-up advertising shall be identifiable and information news cannot be pushed through pop-up windows if the provider does not possess a news information service license. In addition, the new Provisions require pop-up providers to establish and improve content management systems such as information content review, data security, personal information protection, and the protection of minors.
