Consultation opened on Provisions on the Administration of Internet Pop-up Information Push Services (Draft)

On 2 March 2022, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) published and opened a consultation on the Provisions on the Administration of Internet Pop-up Information Push Services (Draft) containing content regulation for internet pop-up notifications. Under the Provisions, pop-up notifications would need to be in compliance with news content laws, be prohibited from abusing algorithms, and potentially be subject to review. Advertising through pop-up notifications would be regulated and subject to review. The consultation will close on 17 March 2022.
