Introduced Online Advocacy and advertisements (SB-746)

On 19 February 2021, the Senate Bill SB-746 on disclosure of the use of personal information for political purposes was introduced in the California State Senate. The Bill would expand consumer rights under the California Civil Code by granting consumers the right to request businesses to disclose whether their personal data has been used for political purposes and provide the name of the candidate or committee that paid for advertisements. The Bill would also require such information to be disclosed to the California Privacy Protection Agency on an annual basis.
