On 28 April 2022, the European Data Protection Board adopted a Statement regarding enhanced cooperation for enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Data Protection Authorities agreed to strengthen cross-border enforcement of GDPR by collectively identifying cross-border cases affecting a large number of data subjects in the European Economic Area, issues dealing with a structural or recurring problem in several member states, matters related to the intersection of data protection with other legal fields and other cases of strategic importance. The Statement further places emphasis on information sharing amongst the Data Protection Authorities and provides measures to facilitate investigation and enforcement.
