Russian court imposes fine on Likeme for non-compliance with data localisation requirement

On 16 June 2022, the Magistrate's Court of the Tagansky District of Moscow issued a ruling in the case brought before the Court by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia (Roskomnadzor) against Likeme. The Court found the company in violation of Russia's personal data legislation for refusing to localise the personal data of Russian citizens. In addition, the Court noted that Likeme failed to confirm that the storage and processing of personal data of Russian users are carried out on the territory of the Russian Federation. The Court issued a fine of RUB 1.5 million.
