On 27 May 2022, the Russian Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) launched an investigation into Airbnb, Pinterest, Likeme, Twitch, Apple, and UPS regarding personal data protection law violations, specifically for their non-compliance with the data localisation requirement. The Roskomnadzor noted that entities collecting and processing personal data of Russian citizens are obliged to store it within the country to ensure its security following the implementation of Act No. 152-FZ. Furthermore, the Roskomnadzor noted that the listed companies face a fine ranging from RUB 1 million to 6 million.
