The Department of Consumer Affairs has asked major e-commerce food business operators (FBOs) to provide the present framework as well as a plan to improve the consumer complaint redressal system. Furthermore, the Department ordered e-commerce FBOs to display to consumers the breakdown of all charges included in the purchase amount, such as shipping charges, packing charges, taxes, surge pricing, and so on. Platforms must also display individual consumer evaluations in a clear manner rather than just aggregated reviews. This aims to maintain consumers' freedom of choice, and e-commerce FBOs were instructed to provide customers the option of sharing their contact information with restaurants if they so desired.
