Five Member States referred to Court of Justice for failing to transpose Audiovisual and Media Services Directive

On 19 May 2021, the European Commission has referred five member states, Czechia, Ireland, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain, to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) as part of infringement procedures for failing to transpose the Audiovisual and Media Services Directive. The Commission has requested that the CJEU impose financial sanctions on the member states in accordance with Article 260(3) TFEU.
