European Union: Reasoned Opinions sent to Member States for failing to transpose Audiovisual and Media Services Directive

On 23 September 2021, the European Commission has issued reasoned opinions to 9 member states as part of infringement procedures for failing to transpose the Audiovisual and Media Services Directive. A reasoned opinion constitutes a formal request to a member state to comply with its obligations under EU law. Member states are given a deadline of two months to reply to the Commission, failing which the Commission may decide to refer them to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
