Referendum on the Amendment to the Federal Act on Film Production and Film Culture passed

On 15 May 2022, the Referendum on the Amendment to the Federal Act on Film Production and Film Culture passed with over 58% of the votes. The Amendment to the Federal Act on Film Production and Film Culture will thus be implemented, requiring companies to invest 4% of their turnover in Switzerland into the production of local content. If streaming providers do not wish to invest the 4% they can alternatively pay the same amount as a levy to the Federal Office of Culture.
