Description

National Council accepts the increased 4% investment in local content obligation by the Council of States

On 16 September, the Swiss National Council approved the increase of the investment in local content obligation from 1% to 4% by the Council of States. The National Council thereby follows the recommendations of the Federal Council and Council of States. If streaming providers do not want to invest 4% of their Switzerland-based income into local content, then they can alternatively, pay the same amount as a levy to the Federal Office of Culture. A referendum is still possible.
