Vietnam: Cybersecurity law, including content moderation authority governance enters into force

On 1 July 2026, the Cybersecurity law, including content moderation authority governance, enters into force. The law requires the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defence to deploy cybersecurity protection forces. The cybersecurity protection forces have several powers, including the ability to apply measures for investigation and prosecution in situations of information with content against the State of Vietnam, information with content that incites riots, or information with humiliating or slanderous content.
