Competition Authority opened investigation into Trustpilot over alleged unfair commercial practices

On 6 May 2025, the Competition Authority (AGCM) opened investigative proceedings against Trustpilot Group for possible violation of the Consumer Code (Legislative Decree No 206 of 6 September 2005, as amended). The proceedings concerned conduct allegedly capable of misleading consumers as to the reliability of businesses reviewed on the Trustpilot platform and the actual level of satisfaction with their services. On the same date, the AGCM ordered an inspection at the premises of Trustpilot S.r.l. pursuant to Article 27, paragraphs 2 and 3, of the Consumer Code.
