On 21 November 2025, the Law amending and supplementing the Electronic Communications Act entered into force following its promulgation in State Gazette No. 99/2025. The Law implements the Digital Services Act (DSA) at national level by activating the designation of the Communications Regulation Commission as the digital services coordinator and competent authority, alongside the Council for Electronic Media and the Commission for Personal Data Protection as competent authorities for specific areas of supervision. The Law applies to providers of intermediary services operating in Bulgaria, including hosting services, online platforms, and online search engines. The Law enables the designated authorities to exercise supervisory, investigative, and enforcement powers and to cooperate with the European Commission and other Member State authorities under the DSA.
