Republic of Korea: Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation and Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (Act No. 21250) including data governance regulation enters into force

On 1 July 2026, the Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation and Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (Act No. 21250), including data governance regulation, enters into force. The amendment revises Articles 1 and 2 to update the purpose and definitions to explicitly cover industrial artificial intelligence. Articles 9 and 10 regulate the creation, use, protection, and transactions of industrial data. Articles 12, 13, and 14 govern standardisation, quality management, and industrial data platforms, including rules on platforms, contractual principles, and institutional support.
