Republic of Korea: National Assembly adopted Bill on Partial Amendment to the Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation (Bill No. 2214589) including data governance

On 2 December 2025, the National Assembly adopted the Bill on Partial Amendment to the Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation (Bill No. 2214589). The amendment revised Articles 1 and 2 to update the purpose and definitions to explicitly cover industrial artificial intelligence. Articles 9 and 10 were amended to regulate the creation, use, protection, and transactions of industrial data. Articles 12, 13, and 14 were amended to govern standardisation, quality management, and industrial data platforms, including rules on platforms, contractual principles, and institutional support.
