Republic of Korea: Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation and Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (Act No. 21250) including cybersecurity regulation enters into force

On 1 July 2026, the Act on Promotion of Industrial Digital Transformation and Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (Act No. 21250), including cybersecurity regulations, enters into force. The amendment revises Article 9(6) to require persons entitled to use or profit from industrial data to ensure the integrity and reliability of industrial data and to prevent loss, theft, leakage, forgery, alteration, or damage. Article 9(7) establishes liability for damages where these obligations are violated intentionally or negligently. Article 25 requires the establishment of policies ensuring that products and services utilising industrial data are safe and free from defects.
