On 17 September 2025, the President signed the Bill on the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments into Law No. 15,211. The Law establishes principles of safety, best interests, and age-appropriate use. Providers must prevent risks such as abuse, exploitation, gambling, predatory advertising, and harmful content. Profiling, emotional analysis, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality targeting, and monetising sexualised child content are prohibited. Platforms must report suspected crimes, remove illegal content upon notice, and provide reporting mechanisms. Large services with over one million minor users must publish semi-annual transparency reports. The Law also requires safeguards against misuse of complaint systems.
