On 10 February 2022, the Social Media (Anti-Trolling) Bill 2022 is introduced in the Australian Parliament. The Australian Government issued previously an exposure draft of the Social Media (Anti-Trolling) Bill on 1 December 2021 and opened the consultation on 17 December 2021. The bill requires any foreign provider of a social media service with at least 250'000 Australian account-holders to have a nominated entity in Australia, that has access to contact details of the service users and control of the complaints scheme settled for defamation procedures.
