European Commission opened formal investigation into TikTok's compliance with obligation to provide a repository for advertisements under Digital Service Act

On 19 February 2024, the European Commission launched formal proceedings to investigate whether TikTok complies with its obligation under the Digital Services Act (DSA) to provide a searchable and reliable repository for advertisements. The investigation will assess whether the platform ensures transparency around the origin, purpose, and targeting of ads, as required by Article 39 of the DSA.
