Singapore: Adopted Singapore Copyright Bill containing machine learning exception

The new Copyright Bill is adopted by the Parliament of Singapore on 13 September 2021. The Bill would repeal and replace the current Copyright Act. In particular, Division 8 of the Bill would allow the use of copyrighted material for machine learning analysis and text mining purposes without the permission of the copyright owner, as long as the copyrighted works are accessed in compliance with the law. The Bill will be implemented on 21 November 2021.
