Indonesia: Ministry of Communication and Digital announced removal of 43’063 online gambling-related content

On 6 January 2025, the Ministry of Communication and Digital of Indonesia announced the removal of 43’063 online gambling-related content, accounts, and sites from user-generated platforms. The action, conducted under presidential directives to protect younger generations from exposure to online gambling (judol), targeted platforms including Meta, Google/YouTube, X, Telegram, and TikTok. The Ministry of Communication and Digital cited cross-sector collaboration, public complaints, and cyber patrols as the basis for the removals.
