Announced Kominfo September 2023 Measures against Online Gambling Content

On 23 September 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics adopted actions to combat online gambling. The Ministry obliged social media platforms to remove 126'408 pieces of content related to gambling and blocked 201 gambling-related accounts between 1 August and 23 September 2023. Further, the Ministry is calling for the support of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in combating online gambling and negative content on the internet and plans to send an official request for support to internet service providers. To accelerate the eradication of online gambling content the Ministry emphasised the importance of collaboration between the government and stakeholders, including APJII, to create a more advanced digital ecosystem free from negative content.
