Mexico: Introduced Initiative with a Draft Decree Proposing the Amendment of Various Articles of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States including competition authority governance

On 5 February 2024, the proposal Bill regarding the Initiative with a Draft Decree Proposing the Amendment of Various Articles of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico. The proposal Bill would amend various articles of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, focusing on organisational simplification. Under the proposed reforms, a number of autonomous constitutional bodies, including both the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) and the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE), would be eliminated and their powers transferred to other executive bodies.
