On 7 October 2024, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California issued a permanent injunction regarding the civil lawsuit between Epic Games Inc. v. Google LLC, prohibiting Google from engaging in several anti-competitive practices. In particular, for the next three years, starting on 1 November 2024, Google is restricted from revenue sharing with entities distributing Android apps, exclusive launch agreements, and pre-installation conditions on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or carriers. Google cannot require the use of Google Play Billing or restrict communication about alternative payment methods. A Technical Committee will oversee compliance, and the court retains jurisdiction to modify the injunction if necessary. The injunction is issued following a previous jury verdict against Google.
