Confirmed suspension of X, formerly Twitter, in Brazil

On 2 September 2024, the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) confirmed the decision of 30 August 2024 issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the STF to suspend the X platform, formerly Twitter, throughout the national territory. The decision followed the failure of owner Elon Musk to comply with a court order to designate a legal representative in Brazil. The investigation into X was announced in April 2024 after the Elon Musk reactivated accounts the platform was ordered to block for allegedly publishing anti-democratic content.
