Closed consultation on FCC rule on Disclosure and Transparency of Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content in Political Advertisements

On 4 September 2024, the Federal Communications Commission closes the public consultation on the proposed rule on disclosure and transparency of Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated content in political advertisements. The rule would apply to entities involved in political advertising, including radio and television broadcast stations, cable operators, direct broadcast satellite and satellite digital audio radio service providers. The rule would require the disclosure of the use of AI-generated content in political advertisements, including an on-air announcement for all political ads containing AI-generated content and a notice in the online political files of these ads, ensuring that listeners and viewers are informed about the use of such content.
