Issued Notice of Interpretation on the Plan Promoting IPv6 Technology Evolution and Application Innovation and Development

On 10 July 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China issued a Notice on carrying out the special task of Network De-NAT to further deepen the deployment and application of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), aiming to address social concerns about IPv6 deployment. The Notice emphasises coordination on network and application improvements and security measures, including creating detailed work plans to expand IPv6 channels, guiding traffic migration to IPv6, ensuring network security and stability, and enhancing supervision and evaluation. The Notice targets acceleration of IPv6 deployment and achieving an IPv6 connectivity rate of at least 80% for fixed broadband users by the end of 2024.
