On 21 June 2024, the Online Safety Industry Standard 2024 for Relevant Electronic Services was published under the Online Safety Act 2021. Developed by the eSafety Commissioner, this standard regulates relevant electronic services and mandates that these services, including dating sites, online games and messaging services, implement measures to eliminate child sexual abuse and pro-terror material. This also includes generative AI-based "nudify apps" that create explicit content without safeguards.
