Description

Implemented Online Safety Industry Standard 2024 under the Online Safety Act 2021 for Relevant Electronic Services

On 22 December 2024, the Online Safety Industry Standard 2024, registered under the Online Safety Act 2021, comes into effect. Developed by the eSafety Commissioner, it regulates relevant electronic services and mandates that these services, including dating sites, online games and messaging services, implement measures to eliminate child sexual abuse and pro-terror material. This also includes generative AI-based "nudify apps" that create explicit content without safeguards.
