Description

Issued European Commission request for information as part of its investigation into X's compliance with Digital Services Act

On 8 May 2024, the European Commission issued a request for information (RFI) under the Digital Services Act (DSA) as part of the ongoing investigation into X’s, formerly Twitter, compliance with the DSA. The RFI follows the issuance of X’s Transparency report as obliged under the DSA, which showed that X reduced its number of content moderators by 20% as well as the languages covered within the European Union (EU) from 11 to 7. Therefore, the RFI requires information from X concerning their content moderation regulation. Additionally, the RFI contains the request of information concerning risk assessment and mitigation measures in connection with generative AI tools, specifically in the context of electoral processes, the dissemination of illegal content, as well as the protection of fundamental rights. The Commission requires X to provide the information until 17 May 2024.
